Semper Femina

Sekali lagi fikirannya bercelaru.

Lega.

Segalanya rasa seperti dipaksa.

Francoise Hardy's Iconic Eyeliner

BY FARHIRA FARUDIN

If anyone of you here is wondering why it's necessary for me to apply eyeliner all the time, it's because of Francoise Hardy. My muse. She is a French singer who's famous in the 60s for her sad catchy songs and timeless fashion looks. Simply breathtaking.

TRACK REVIEW: Sign Of The Times by Harry Styles

Wednesday, April 26, 2017
BY FARHIRA FARUDIN

Last week, the highly anticipated debut single from a former One Direction member Harry Styles was released.

The single is called Sign of The Times, the debut single off his upcoming self-titled album to be released in May.

Frankly, when I first heard this song I was blown away by Harry's vocal performance. An already avid fan of One Direction myself, I was aware of his strong vocal ability but I was still taken aback by how raw and powerful he sounds in this song.

This song too is atmospheric to me. It's a ballad, perhaps something you didn't expect from a former One Direction member where they are known for their pop catchy singles.

I admire the risk Harry took for this single. He could've just choose a debut single that's more radio-friendly and catchy, just like Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson did. But instead he took the risk and release this song, a powerful ballad that has successfully captured the hearts of critics and fans all over the world.

Needless to say, I am a huge fan of this single and I am certainly looking forward to his debut album. Looks like Harry Styles started off his solo career on the right foot.

CMC Team Building 2017

Wednesday, April 26, 2017
BY FARHIRA FARUDIN

On 15th April 2017, CMC members attended our first ever Team Building camp. This camp was held at Latto Charok, Janda Baik and held for two days.

They were around 40 people and followed by CMC advisor which is Miss Zakiah. The point of this camp is simple, to let us the CMC members get to know each other well so we could cooperate better in the near future for the upcoming events.

To be frank, I didn't want to go to the camp initially mainly because I am not an outdoor person and I haven't been to a camp for so long. Three years, to be exact. So when I first arrived here I had many negative thoughts inside my head, mostly about how badly I want to go home.

But as time passed by I realised I was having so much fun with my new friends. We did countless activities that not only test our communication skills but also our cooperation as a team. We also cooked together, which is something that I didn't expect us to do. We slept inside tents, and through this experience I learnt about how to survive in the jungle and out of the busy city life.

During our second day, our only activity is jungle trekking. It was a tough journey for me to climb all the way up because it was slippery everywhere due to the rainy night. But each one of us successfully made our way to the top and pampered ourselves with the breathtaking view of waterfall. It was a challenging experience, but a memorable one as well.

I thoroughly believe the objective of this camp, which is to get to know each other and strengthen the bond between CMC members, is achieved successfully.

Social Experiment : Mad Girl in Town

Friday, April 14, 2017
By: Ellysha Zuraimi

For this semester, we take introduction to psychology. So for our assignment we are given a task which is bystander effect by our lecturer. And we actually came out with an idea to impersonate a mad girl.

This task is actually to see how people react towards the mad girl. So on last Monday we started our social experiment with place setting at KL Central.

First, our actress which is Caca change her clothes from jeans to shorts. There we received a huge reaction where a mualaf lady came towards us and starting to bashing caca for not “ tutup aurat dengan sempurna” and bashing us for not advising kawan sendiri.

And then we moved to another toilet at NU Central to makeup and put bruises over her body and face.
We started doing our experiment outside of NU Central and we received variety of feedback. Some of them run, just looking and laugh. Unfortunately no one concern about her.

Eat & Repeat

Thursday, April 13, 2017
BY FARHIRA FARUDIN

Yesterday my friends and I went to a restaurant called Eat & Repeat, which is the Malaysian style of Boat Noodle. Every single food and beverages in the menu only costs RM 1.90, which is considered as way cheaper than the actual Boat Noodle. They also have variety of food and beverages, not just noodles.

I ordered Nasi Goreng Cina and Mango drinks with ice cream and brownies as the dessert. I only had to spend RM 7.60 in total, which is within my budget. I would definitely come here again and try other food in the menu!

Day Out With The Family

Sunday, April 02, 2017
Yesterday my family and I went out for shopping and basically just have lunch together, like we usually would do. We often go to Quill City Mall, which is located 15 minutes away from our home. Quill City Mall is a decent mall for everyone, especially for family, to have their hang out cause it's cozy and the stores are great as well. But most of all, it's a nice place to have your meals with your family cause it has lots of restaurants that everyone has heard of or seen recommended on the internet.

We went to Secret Recipe. We've had our meals here many times before, albeit we knew the price are quite high but we still go here anyways for unknown reasons. Maybe because we really enjoy the Mac and Cheese with prawn. We often order the same thing every time we go here.

We also ordered Chicken Cordon Blue, which is a chicken chop except when you slice the chicken into pieces, it's filled with melted cheese. It is served with fries and salad, which are a good combination to me. We also ordered Beef Lasagna. Frankly, I never liked SR's Lasagna perhaps because it looks oily to me and the propotion is kind of small. But I enjoyed the taste nonetheless.

After Quill City Mall, we drove all the way to Petaling Jaya to go to Amcorp Mall. For a record, I love Amcorp Mall and I despise how underrated it is. Maybe not many people acknowledge its existence because it doesn't have fancy, branded stores like KLCC or Sunway Pyramid. Most of the stores in Amcorp Mall sells vintage and rare things. There's a store here which sells second hand and new vinyls. There's also a flea market here too every Sunday. I realised in Amcorp Mall there are a few CD/DVD or music stores, which is a rarity nowadays because in other malls those stores are starting to close its business.

But what I like the most about Amcorp Mall is a bookstore called Book Xcess. Book Xcess sells books at wholesale price, and many of the books are pretty new in the market too! I haven't been here in a long time and yesterday I finally did. I saw a Haruki Murakami book which costs only RM17.90, whilst other bookstores like MPH and Kinokuniya sells it for RM80! It's sad to me that not many people acknowledge the existence of this bookstore that's definitely worthwhile for book lovers to visit. If you enjoyed the annual Big Bad Wolf sale, then you'd definitely enjoy Book Xcess and you can visit it daily too. Both Amcorp Mall and Book Xcess are definitely hidden gems!
